Objectives
The Bachelor of Computer Science (Multimedia and Game Development) degree provides all the benefits of a computer science qualification – focusing on the development of high-level programming skills that can be applied across the widest range of applications. The programme is strongly complemented by an internationally recognised specialisation (major) in Multimedia and Game Development that includes 3D Modelling and Animation, Computer Graphics, Game Design, and Graphic Design.

Programme Nature
Building upon the body of knowledge specified by the International Game Developers Association, students are expertly led through a degree that ensures they acquire competencies in studying theory, analysis, design, efficiency, programming and applications required for writing computer software to solve practical industry problems. Students are also taken through key aspects of the multimedia and game development sector.

Students will gain a strong technical background augmented by a creative animation and multimedia foundation. This special balance of technical and creative skills and competencies are consistently being identified as key employable assets for ITC professionals working in the new media sector.

Programme Structure
This three-year programme is conducted in Singapore and students are required to complete the first year with Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) thereafter progressing to the second and final year with University of Wollongong (UOW).

All coursework subjects in the three-year degree programme are designed by UOW experts in all the major fields of computer science. This is further enhanced by direct teaching into all multimedia and gaming related coursework subjects within the degree by senior faculty staff at the University with significant cross-disciplinary research interaction with leading corporations like Motorola and Microsoft. Direct input into the degree programme by such experts ensures graduates are equipped with the specialised knowledge and skills that enable them to make sense of changing business environments, the role of computer science and multimedia in this change and where this change is likely to lead.

Designed to ensure graduates make a real impact on the media creation environment, the coursework equips graduates with superior skills in design and methodology in preparation for leadership roles in the field of multimedia. Within the prescribed subjects, they will study the principles of creative design in video, audio, web and 3D virtual worlds. Exposure to professional production packages is also a key feature of the programme. Graduates become effective multimedia practitioners at a professional level, bridging the gap between programmer and creator and they are flexible, technology literate and responsive to organisational and social change, both current and future.

Graduates will also extend their practical skills set and competencies in key areas including:
